Title: Riparian microplastic 2 - This bit of foamed polystyrene on closer inspection was host to small, aquatic plants seeking a foothold. I imagine as roots burrow deeper into the plastic, they would assist in breaking it down. I'm not sure if any studies have been done to quantify what role plants play in breaking down plastics.
